Christmas 2018 in Ryedale
Posted on 17th November 2018 at 17:16
Whether it’s a ‘bah, humbug’ or a tasty chocolate advent calendar, you can’t avoid getting into the festive spirit here in Ryedale!
Of course, it’s the time for Christmas parties and events (be sure to book your taxi so you get home safely).
And Ryedale is really pushing the boat out – or should that be Santa’s sleigh – with a whole host of activities across the region.
So with the 1st December so comes one of the first Christmas Light switch ons, this time in picturesque Thornton le Dale. The lights look lovely above the shallow river that flows through the village.
If you love history and want a peep at how Christmas was celebrated in the past, then head to Ryedale Folk Musuem at Hutton le Hole, on the 1st and 2nd December.
There’s nothing as magical as a forest during the festive celebrations, and Dalby Forest, near Pickering, is hosting some Christmas events on 1st and 2nd, 7th to 9th and 14th to 16th December.
Santa will be very busy on the steam trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, with the Santa Specials running on 1st and 2nd, 8th and 9th, 15th and 16th and 22nd and 23rd of December.
The lovely market town of Helmsley hosts its annual Christmas Tree Festival at All Saints Church in the town from 1st to 16th December.
Castle Howard, surely one of the most spectacular stately homes in the country, is also getting in the festive mood with its Twelve Days of Christmas event running from 1st to 31st December.
We are sure there’ll be mince pies, mulled wine and miseltoe at many of these events … we can help you get to and from these events in style and comfort.
