The end of the summer and the start of the autumn is approaching here in Ryedale … and there’s so much going on in the area.
One of the best aspects of autumn is the foodie produce.
Malton is renowned as a food town and will feature the Malton Harvest Festival on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September.
Lots of market stalls will be selling their wares from 9am to 4pm each day and the will be a street food court open throughout the weekend.
Chef demos, family entertainment, live music, tastings and talks will are sure to entice the crowds.
A perennial favourite is Malton’s Festival of Racing, this year taking place on Sunday 15th September.
As well as being famous for its foodie connections, the market town has roots in the horse racing industry, too.

Twelve horse-racing yards will open their doors to the public across the Ryedale region.
In addition to being able to visit the stables across the region, other events include the Ravensdale Flyball Team demo, Linton Pet Shop Dog Show , Terrier Racing and there will also be show jumping.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which has a heritage station at Pickering, will host the Autumn Steam Gala from 27th to 29th September inclusive. The event will showcase guest locomotives and the home fleet engines over the weekend.
Castle Howard, one of the most famous stately homes in the country, will be hosting their Autumn Harvest and Flower Festival from 26th to 29th September. The spectacular flower show takes place inside the house, along with outdoor activities.
Continuing on the horticultural theme, Scampston Hall will stage its Autumn Plant Fair on Sunday 29th September at the Scampston Walled Garden venue.
And for a varied indoor itinerary, the Milton Rooms in Malton is hard to beat.
